NUMBER 1 ENEMY, The dreaded FIRE ANT.
There are various fire ants in Florida but the RED IMPORTED FIRE
ANT is the most common, has a veracious appetite, extremely bad
attitude towards everyone and everything, and can attack with no
warning, they normally live in the ground, can have large mounds
with populations in the thousands. These ants will enter homes, cars,
buildings in search of food and water.
The sting and bite of these ants can, in some cases cause a reaction,
which may require a hospital visit. They can be hazardous to
everyone especially pets, animals, children, senior citizens.
New To Florida? These ants are probably the first kind that you
encounter. They deserve everyone's respect and diligence to avoid
them. Always be aware of their presence. They will never be totally
eliminated, only controlled.
